#1 Birding North East India 18 days

Namdapha Tiger Reserve ~ Dibru Saikhowa Wildlife Sanctuary ~ Kaziranga National Park ~ Nameri Tiger Reserve

Day 1: On arrival at Kolkata our Guide will receive you at the airport. We will spend the morning to look for the Fulvous Whistling Ducks and Swinhoe’s Snipe in Kolkata. Then we will fly same afternoon to Mohanbari Airport at Dibrugarh. If flight is on time we will spend some time at Borajan to see some birds and primates. We will stay at Tinsukia.

Day 2: Today we will drive 5-6hrs to Namdapha Tiger Reserve. At Deban we will look out for the Beautiful and Long-tailed Sibia. Here we will spend the night at Deban at Camps or Rest House. At night we will here the calls of the Mountain Scops Owl, Collared and Asian Barred Owlet. We will also try to spot the Namdapha Flying Squirrel and the shy Slow Loris near the Rest House.

Day 3: Today we will bird along the Burma Nallah Road and try to locate the Pied Falconet, Mountain Bulbul and the Greater & Lesser Necklaced Laughingthrushes, Slaty-bellied Tesia and Sultan Tits. We will spend the afternoon along the Noa Dihing River and look for the White-bellied Heron and the Ibisbill.

Day 4-7: We will stay at fully serviced camps for 4 nights at Haldibari, Hornbill and beyond. Here we will try to see the Beautiful Nuthatch, Green Cochoa, Pin-tailed Green & Mountain Imperial Pigeon, Black-headed Shrike Babbler, Snowy-throated & White hooded Babbler etc.

Day 8: Today we will trek back to Deban and spend the night at Deban at Camps or Rest House.

Day 9: We will spend the early morning birding near Motijheel. Then drive to Tinsukia for night Stay.

Day 10: We will spend the day at Dibru-Saikhowa Wildlife Sanctuary looking for Jerdon’s Babbler, Marsh Babbler and Jerdon’s Bushchat in the Grasslands. We will stay at Tinsukia.

Day 11: We will spend the day at other areas of Dibru-Saikhowa Wildlife Sanctuary and Maguri Bheels looking for birds like Black-throated Parrotbills, Spot-winged Starlings etc.

Day 12: Today we will drive to Kaziranga and try to get an afternoon drive in the National Park.

Day 13-15: We will do jeep safaries and Elephant rides inside Kaziranga and spend the days in the forest looking out for Pallas’s Fish Eagle, Pied Harriers, Bengal Florican, Greater Adjutant Storks etc.

Day 16: We spend the early morning at Panbari and then we will drive to Nameri Tiger Reserve to get a glimpse of the rare White-winged Duck and Wreathed Hornbills.

Day 17: The whole day will be spend birding at Nameri and looking for the Ibisbills.

Day 18: After early mornings birding we drive to Gauhati Airport to fly to Calcutta or New Delhi

 

#2 Birding Eastern Himalayas India 18 days

Sunderban Tiger Reserve ~ Gorumara National Park~ Neora Valley National Park ~ Singalila National Park

Day 1: On arrival at New Delhi/Kolkata our Guide will receive you at the airport. We will spend a few hours in Kolkata looking for the Bengal Bushlark, Fulvous Whistling Ducks and Swinhoe’s Snipe or the Blunt-winged Warbler and Rusty-rumped Warbler (according to season) then we drive 2-1/2 hrs to Sonakhali and cruise to Sunderban Tiger Reserve. We stay at our own Sunderban Jungle Camp.

Day 2: We spend the day cruising through the creeks looking for the seven species of kingfishers, including the Brown-winged, Collared and Ruddy Kingfisher.

Day 3: The day is spend cruising through the creeks of the Reserve and in the villages looking for Loten’s, Purple and Purple-rumped Sunbirds etc.

Day 4: Early Morning we leave for Dumdum and fly to Bagdogra and drive to Gozoldoba Barrage where we will try to locate the Ferruginous Pochard, Eastern Marsh Harrier, Osprey, Great Crested Grebe etc. We stay overnight at Gorumara Jungle Lodge.

Day 5: We will visit the small 80 km2 Gorumara National Park early morning and see the Green Imperial, Pintailed, Wedge-tailed, Pompadour and Yellow-footed Green Pigeons, we will also try to spot the Collared Falconet, Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker, etc. In the afternoon we will visit Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary and look out for Sultan Tits, Lesser Adjutants etc. We stay overnight Gorumara Jungle Camp.

Day 6: We bird on the other Birding Trailand look for the Lesser Rachet-tailed, Greater Rachet-tailed and Spangled Drongo. We will also look for the Long-tailed Broadbills, Fairy Bluebird and Large Wood Shrike. Then we drive to Lava. The late afternoon will be spend birding at Lava.

Day 7-9: We will spend birding at various birding trails around Lava and Neora Valley National Park. Here we will look for the Mountain Hawk and Black Eagle, Khaleej Pheasants, Black-throated Parrotbills, Barwings, Shrike-babblers, Yuhinas, Shortwings, Redstarts, etc.

Day 10: We will bird around the Lava in the morning and drive to Darjeeling.

Day 11: We will spend the day birding at aTiger Hill looking for Spotted Laughingthrush, Broad-billed Warbler, or the enigmatic Gould’s Shortwing.

Day 12: We will bird watch on the way down to Manebhanjan and drive all the way to Sandakhphu at 12000 ft.

Day 13: The whole day is spend birding at and around Sandakhphu. Here we will look for Spotted Nutcracker, Dark-breasted, Beautiful, Pink-browed and Dark-rumped Rosefinch.

Day 14: We trek down to spend the day birding on the route. The overnight in fully serviced tents.

Day 15: We spend the day birding at Gairibans looking for Fire-tailed Myzornis, Red-headed Bullfinch or the Yellow-browed Tit. The overnight fully serviced tents.

Day 16: We spend the day at Tonglu and Megma and look for Little Bunting etc.

Day 17: We drive from Tonglu to Darjeeling.

Day 18: The morning will be spend birding in Darjeeling town and then we head back for Bagdogra for New Delhi or Kolkata where you will be transferred to International Airport or to the City Centre
